The first swim
Ten minutes out of port the engine stops and the first one jumps in. It’s not the destination: it’s shaking the city off before you begin.
Bow to Los Gigantes
The coast slides slowly past the rail and the cliffs grow until they fill everything. You anchor beneath them.
The long lunch
You eat at anchor, feet still wet, something cold in your hand. Afterwards nobody has anything to do, and that is exactly the plan.
The nap on deck
The bow sundeck, the boat rocking and the book you finally finish. When you wake up, another swim. And the way back with the light already low.

Crew
A captain from here, who has never done anything but the sea, and a crew member who came from luxury hospitality. When the weather turns, you can tell who’s in charge of the boat.
Fuel and insurance
Everything settled before we cast off: sailing, insurance and fuel are all inside the price.
The fridge, stocked
Water, soft drinks, beer, wine and a chilled cava. Plenty of ice.
Tapas and towels
The food and the towels are already on board when you reach the pontoon.
Snorkelling and paddle surf
Equipment on board, covered by its active tourism insurance.

when the sea allows.
Past Los Gigantes the coast closes in, and then the ravine that climbs up to the village suddenly opens. Getting there by sea is the part of the day nobody had on their list, and the one they talk about afterwards.
